Hyperspace relays, also known as hyperspace relay stations, were devices that ensured the transmission of hyperwaves from transceiver to transceiver. In star systems lacking hyperspace relay stations, starships had to navigate using hyperspace beacons or navigation buoys unless the ship had a sophisticated navigation computer.
