Hutt Guard Droids first appeared in the canon mobile game Star Wars: Uprising, which was developed by Kabam for iOS and Android platforms, and released on September 10, 2015. They were designed by , on the basis of a droid that appeared in the Legends book Tempest Feud, a supplement to the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game.
