In 35 ABY the Jedi Rey visited Pasaana during the Festival of the Ancestors as part of her search for clue that would lead to the location of a Sith wayfinder. There, she encountered the teenage Aki-Aki reveler Nambi Ghima. Ghima gifted Rey with a husk necklace, but shortly after the First Order Supreme Leader Kylo Ren stole the necklace from Rey through their Force-bond and handed it off to First Order intelligence officer Tishra Kandia with orders to determine its origins. Kandia analyzed the necklace and discovered it came from Pasaana's Forbidden Valley in the Middian system. Using this information, Ren traveled to Pasaana with the Knights of Ren to confront Rey and her Resistance allies.
Husk necklaces first appeared in the 2019 Star Wars film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. They were first identified in the 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary written by Pablo Hidalgo.
