Humbarine

Humbarine was an ancient world that constituted a part of the Core Worlds. Home to the Humbarine Academy of Advanced Studies, it was subjected to a devastating Separatist orbital bombardment during the Clone Wars and later had a planetary defense force in which the pilot Lega Fossang at one point served. Humbarine supported the reign of Galactic Emperor Palpatine, and, following the end of the Galactic Civil War, it came under the control of an Imperial remnant incorporating possessions in the galaxy's inner regions.

Description

Humbarine was a terrestrial world located in the Humbarine sector, within the regions known as the Core Worlds and the Slice. Situated in grid square M-10 of the Standard Galactic Grid, Humbarine was connected by a hyperspace route to the worlds Commenor and Gatalenta as well as the Hydian Way route. Humbarine was the homeworld of the sycanid creature.

History

The scientist Galen Erso studied at the Humbarine Academy of Advanced Studies at one point between 40 BBY and 22 BBY. Humbarine served as the capital of the Humbarine sector and was home to the human Bana Breemu, who, by the time of the Clone Wars, represented the sector in the Senate of the Galactic Republic. At some point during that conflict, the Confederacy of Independent Systems carried out an orbital bombardment of Humbarine that completely seared the world's surface.

The Resistance pilot Lega Fossang at one point served with a planetary defense force on Humbarine.

By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Humbarine was an ancient and conservative world that supported the reign of Emperor Palpatine of the Galactic Empire. After the war's end, it came under the control of an Imperial remnant that incorporated the Empire's former possessions in the Core, the Colonies, and the Inner Rim Territories.

In 34 ABY, the New Republic Sector Rangers discovered the cargo starship Sketter's Quarrel dead in space. Aboard the vessel, the Rangers found several exotic creatures the private ownership of which was illegal, including a sycanid from Humbarine. Later that same year, information from the Rangers' file on the case, which mentioned the sycanid's origin, was published in the book Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, which was authored by New Republic Police Commissioner Exantor Divo. The Resistance pilot Major Temmin Wexley recruited the human pilot Lega Fossang from a planetary defense force on Humbarine at some point by 35 ABY, and she brought her own Y-wing starfighter for the Resistance's use.

Behind the scenes

Humbarine was introduced in the current Star Wars canon in the fifty-second issue of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine, published around December 30, 2015. Humbarine was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the reference book Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections, authored by Curtis Saxton and published on April 2, 2005. It was then given its first visual depiction in the October 25, 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology by Daniel Wallace and Kevin J. Anderson, and first appeared in the non-canonical 2009 mobile game Star Wars: Jedi Mind Tricks.
