The holy Paataatus space was the region of the Unknown Regions part of the Paataatus sentient species' government of the Paataatus Hiveborn. It housed the Paataatus capital of Nettehi and the Nettehi system. Around 19 BBY, after the Hiveborn, which was controlled by the Nikardun species' hegemony, the Nikardun Destiny, attacked the Chiss capital Csilla, the Chiss sent a task force commanded by Admiral Ar'alani to attack Paataatus forces over Nettehi. After the attack, the admiral and the Paataatus commanders met in the inner Nettehi system.
Around a year later, around 18 BBY, Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn" visited Nettehi, where he was confronted by the Paataatus leader, the Prince Militaire, who warned Thrawn of his intrusion into Paataatus space. During the confrontation, they became allies, and attacked the remaining Nikardun forces holding the Paataatus hostage.
The holy Paataatus space first appeared, albeit unnamed, in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first volume in Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy trilogy. It was later named in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, the sequel to Chaos Rising and second installment in the Ascendancy Trilogy.
