In 4 ABY, Wedge Antilles used an HH-87 formerly belonging to Gev Hessan to scout several Outer Rim worlds for signs of hidden Imperial redoubts. When his starhopper was captured by the ISD Vigilance over Akiva, Antilles rigged it to explode, hoping the chaos would allow him to escape. Sometime prior to the attack on Tuanul, Vi Moradi and her astromech droid U5-GG were captured in a starhopper by the First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Absolution.
The HH-87 Starhopper was originally created for "Escape from Kadavo," the thirteenth episode of the canon animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars fourth season. Its design was based on an original concept illustration for the Imperial shuttle developed for the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
