In 3643 BBY, Gurin led the Galactic Republic fleet in cruiser Corellia to investigate the planet Sebaddon. Droid-maker Lema Xandret launched eight missiles filled with hex droids from Sebaddon as an answer. Only one missile survived intact and penetrated Corellias hull. Gurin, unaware of hexes droids threat, quickly assured the participants of the mission that the cruiser had remained intact. Hexes then took control of the ship, while Jedi Padawan Shigar Konshi tried to contact Gurin to tell him to evacuate the ship, but the commander was already killed in the attack before he could escape. He was replaced by captain Pipalidi.
