Grievous used a shuttle during his time as a Kaleesh warlord, and one day, it was sabotaged under the direction of Count Dooku, Head of State of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, in league with other members of the Executive Separatist Council in a scheme to heavily disfigure Grievous in order to convert him into a fully cybernetic being loyal to the Separatists. The shuttle crashed as planned, nearly killing Grievous. He was subsequently taken in and rebuilt by Dooku.
