Great Schism

Great Schism referred to at least two events in the history of the Jedi Order. Many ancient heritage tapestries depicting the first two Great Schisms of the Jedi Order remained within the Chamber of Antiquities, the lower levels of the Great Jedi Library on Ossus.

The Great Schisms were first mentioned in canon in Nexus of Power, a 2016 sourcebook published by Fantasy Flight Games for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game. In the Star Wars Legends, the First Great Schism first appeared in the comic Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith 0, written by Kevin J. Anderson, penciled by Dario Carrasco, Jr., and published by Dark Horse Comics on July 1, 1996. The 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology established that the First Great Schism and the Second Great Schism were separate events, along with the fact that the subsequent century of conflict is the same event as the Hundred-Year Darkness. Since then, the Hundred-Year Darkness has also been reintroduced in the current canon, but no connection between it and the Great Schisms has been established.
