Gorm

Gorm was an Outer Rim Territories planet located in the Meerian sector. Located on the Galactic Frontier by 4000 BBY, it was the homeworld of the venomous reptiles known as gorm-worms, which were exported across the galaxy. Around 3643 BBY, an individual visited the ancient Gorm Academy in order to study its secrets.

Description

Gorm was a terrestrial planet located in the Gorm system, a part of the Meerian sector in the New Territories portion of the Outer Rim Territories. It was home to the venomous reptiles known as gorm-worms, which, despite being dangerous to capture, had become exported across the galaxy by 3999 BBY for their lethal venom.

History

Between approximately 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, Gorm constituted a part of Wild Space. Around 5000 BBY, it was located outside the "civilized galaxy," or the area of space that had been widely explored by the Galactic Republic. Gorm had become a part of that territory by 4000 BBY, by which time it was situated on the Galactic Frontier.

At some point long before 3643 BBY, an architect designed an academy on Gorm in which they had many secrets hidden. Around that year, an individual dispatched a companion to study the academy, which the facility's caretakers allowed them to do in return for a donation.

When the pirate Bar-Kooda attacked a spaceliner with a group of entertainers aboard at some point by 6 ABY, he made them all perform for him, shooting any whose performances he did not enjoy. At one point, a captured singer took the stage with a song the lyrics of which told about a binggy which had been born in a "red, red field" on Gorm. In the song, the binggy was laid down to die in that same field, and the composition made Bar-Kooda sad, although he ultimately killed the singer anyway.

Behind the scenes

Gorm was first mentioned in Bounty on Bar-Kooda, the first entry in the Star Wars: Boba Fett series of one-shot comic books. The issue was written by John Wagner and published by Dark Horse Comics on December 5, 1995. The 1996 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Tales of the Jedi Companion by George R. Strayton was the first source to establish that Gorm was a distinct astronomical object, and the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Gorm system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square O-6.

In the 2011 BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, players could assign their companions to visit Gorm as part of the Crew Skill mission "The Gorm Academy." However, the mission outcome text, which has since been removed from the game, instead mentioned them having visited the Telos Academy, located on the Kwymar sector planet Telos.
