Gaza was a Human male who was a leading member of the ruling Herdessan Guild on his home planet of Herdessa during the Galactic Civil War. In 4 ABY, after the Galactic Empire's climactic defeat at Endor, Gaza, along with several Herdessan Guild leaders, met with a delegation from the Alliance of Free Planets to establish formal diplomatic relations. An enthusiastic participant in the Herdessan practice of slavery, Gaza and his confederates—led by Spokesman Brylin—instead took Alliance leader Mon Mothma prisoner, intending to deliver her and the world to an Imperial remnant force. However, fellow Alliance diplomat Leia Organa led an armed Herdessan revolt that overthrew the Herdessan Guild's power and toppling their scheme.
