Gauss balls were a kind of Stun grenade that were used for droids. They released a blast of ion and electrical energy. YVH-Series battle droid models had a resistance to these devices.
In 40 ABY, junior Galactic Alliance Guard member Ben Skywalker struck a Tendrando Arms Guardian droid with a gauss ball, only to discover that its mag-shielding had been sufficiently upgraded from military standards to resist the weapon's effects.
