Gattis-root was a plant whose extract could be used to treat Bybbec fever among the Twi'lek species. While the Galactic Empire distributed gattis-root extract for free on Ryloth, consumers were required to register with the distributing clinic. This allowed the Empire to identify false identities and to facilitate the movement of jungle settlers. In 13 BBY, Hera Syndulla and the Karthakk Group undertook a mission to smuggle gattis-root extract to Ryloth following the Free Ryloth Movement's failed attempt to assassinate Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.
