Gate Control was an organization of the Galactic Empire responsible for controlling access through the Shield Gate, the single entry port of the otherwise impenetrable deflector shield around the planet Scarif. During the Battle of Scarif, Rogue One, led by Jyn Erso, was allowed access passage through the gate by a member of Gate Control. Shortly after, a Rebel Alliance fleet launched an assault on the Shield Gate, during which they destroyed the station by hurling two Imperial Star Destroyers into it.
