In the current Star Wars canon, the Galactic Courts of Justice were mentioned in reprinted material in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the courts first appeared as the "Imperial Justice Court" in the 1996 novel X-Wing: Wedge's Gamble, which was written by Michael A. Stackpole. The courts were then first pictured and identified as the Galactic Courts of Justice in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund with illustrations by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen. It was this material that was reprinted in Complete Locations.
