Forward visual triangulation site

The forward visual triangulation site was the name given to any of several large viewports found aboard Imperial and Chiss warships.

On Imperial ships, this room was used primarily to perform line-of-sight weaponry targeting in circumstances where the ship's main sensors were knocked off-line. On Chiss ships, Chiss warriors were placed in each viewport during a battle in order to track enemy vessels and coordinate the firing of weaponry during combat. The efforts of these Chiss warriors augmented the ship's existing sensor systems, and sometimes provided a more reliable description of a battle.

In 19 ABY, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade avoided the bustle of the signing ceremony for the Pellaeon–Gavrisom Treaty by sharing a cup of hot chocolate in the Imperial Star Destroyer Chimaera's forward visual triangulation site.
