Fondor II was an Imperial military base on the planet Zaloriis. The base was surrounded by walls, and had a command center, a troop center, a Research Center, and various military production buildings (including a mech factory), along with a landing pad. It also possessed four watch towers as well as a power core in the open. An animal nursery sat just outside the walls.
During an Imperial assault on Zaloriis some time before the Battle of Hoth, then-Colonel Maximilian Veers was captured by the planet's separatists. He was rescued by Darth Vader and his troops, and they regrouped at Fondor II. At that time, the base was under attack by the Rebel forces. Darth Vader and his troops cleaned out the base, and Colonel Veers directed them to his hidden research base, Camp Culroon where they produced the prototype All Terrain Armored Transport unit, Blizzard 1. Vader's strike force then brought Blizzard 1 back to Fondor II for its final outfitting. The AT-AT and other assembled military units then assaulted the Rebel base at Zaloriis City, destroying its ability to make war.
The Fondor II base shares its name with the planet Fondor, home to the Fondor Shipyards, a primary production facility of Imperial Navy warships. The base appears in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds during the Darth Vader campaign. The campaign is also included in the game's 2002 expansion pack, Clone Campaigns.
