Flitterpods were striped purple fish with fins that could be found the river of the forest planet Tenoo. In 232 BBY, the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar and Lys Solay traveled down the river and noticed the creatures, with the latter becoming distracted by them and almost crashing their speeder. The same year, a flitterpod took the Jedi youngling Nubs' lightsaber, though he eventually retrieved it from the fish.

In 232 BBY, the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar and Lys Solay traveled down Tenoo's river on a speeder alongside a group of flitterpods. Solay, who had heard of the creatures but was unaware they lived in the area, became distracted while observing them flit in and out of the water, and she narrowly avoided crashing into a tree root thanks to a warning from Brightstar. Later the same year, Brightstar and Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar passed by some flitterpods swimming in a stream within one of Tenoo's forests.
Also that year, the Jedi youngling Nubs tripped and flung his lightsaber onto a rock within Tenoo's river. When he tried to retrieve it using the Force, a flitterpod leaped out of the water and took the weapon in its mouth, chittering happily. Nubs called out in alarm and chased the flitterpod as it swam down the river and over a waterfall before eventually swinging over to the creature using a vine to take his lightsaber back.
Flitterpods first appeared in "Get Well Nubs," the first part of the third episode of the animated series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventuress first season. The episode was released on May 4, 2023. Prior to the episode's release, the creatures were included, albeit unnamed, in a trailer for the series released on April 10.
