During the Galactic War between the reconstituted Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic in 3640 BBY, the Sith Lord Darth Gravus, after he successfully conquered the planet Taris, was put in charge of a fleet above the mineral-rich planet Leritor. However, a Republic fleet appeared and defeated the Sith warships, thus conquering the planet and forcing Gravus to retreat for the moment, weakening his position in the eyes of the Dark Council. Afterwords, a second battle was fought here that saw the Empire reclaim the planet, but also saw the death of Darth Gravus at the hands of a rival Sith Lord, Darth Karrid.
