The Filar-Nitzan were mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2021 novel The High Republic: Out of the Shadows, written by Justina Ireland as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Filar-Nitzan originated in the 1995 West End Games roleplaying sourcebook Alliance Intelligence Reports, where they were a gaseous sentient species.
