Fedje

Fedje was a planet in the Outer Rim's Atrivis sector. It was home to many exotic creatures, including the rare folded ear boosqueak. The planet was visited by members of the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. Imperial Intelligence operatives later posed as natives of the planet while carrying out sabotage on the Bothan homeworld Bothawui.

Description

Located in the Atrivis sector of the Outer Rim Territories, Fedje was a terrestrial planet with a number of large continents covered in forests. These contained many exotic arboreal lifeforms, including the rare folded ear boosqueak. It also had at least one large ocean. The inhabitants of the planet included Humans, who settled in the Betreasley district. They became known for their expansive hand gestures while speaking.

Fedje was located at the intersection of the Braxant and Relgim Runs. The Braxant was the most important hyperlane through the galaxy's northern quadrant, while the Relgim Run traversed the Atrivis sector.

History

During the Pius Dea Era, refugees from Fedje fled the theocratic and tyrannical Galactic Republic to Prefid's Belt, a constellation visible in Fedje's skies. There they settled Prefsbelt IV, which became a refuge for Pius Dea Renunciates.

During the Galactic Civil War, members of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, including General Han Solo, visited the planet. During the Galactic Empire's resurgence under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn, the neighboring world of Generis was captured by the Empire. Among those that escaped the New Republic defeat was Wing Commander Varth. Fellow survivor Pash Cracken lost contact with Varth during the retreat but held out hope that he may have regrouped with forces on Fedje or, alternatively, Ketaris.

In 19 ABY, Imperial Intelligence agent Drend Navett impersonated a native of Fedje in order to infiltrate the Bothan homeworld of Bothawui during the Caamas Document Crisis. Making use of the expansive hand gestures typical of Betreasley inhabitants to make his performance more convincing, he posed as an exotic pet salesman as a cover for sabotage activities. He was trying to incite violence against the Bothans after it had been discovered that an unidentified group of them had been involved in the orbital bombardment of Caamas decades earlier. Navett later died while sabotaging a power generator.

In 25 ABY, the galaxy was invaded by the Yuuzhan Vong, an extra-galactic species determined to conquer the galaxy. Advancing on the galaxy from their entry point Vector Prime, they assaulted Fedje in the early years of the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Behind the scenes

Fedje was first mentioned in Timothy Zahn's novel The Last Command. He referenced the planet again in his later work, Vision of the Future. The planet first appeared in the computer game Star Wars: Rebellion. It depicted the planet with a generic image that was used for 21 other planets.

Star Wars: Rebellion cartography

Star Wars: Rebellion provided travel times between planets within the same sector; however, on a number of occasions, these were significantly longer than other canonical sources. As such, these travel times seem to reflect game mechanics rather than canonical travel times. Nonetheless, the times given for Fedje were as follows:
