The Executive Order Codes for the Grand Army of the Republic, also known as the 150 general orders, were a set of directives memorized by every clone trooper of the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic. Along with the Supreme Chancellor, the Galactic Senate's Republic Security Council was capable of activating any of the orders. Order 66 was one of the orders that was eventually issued.
The 150 general orders were first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products. The orders first appeared in the Star Wars Legends, where they were identified as Contingency Orders for the Grand Army of the Republic: Order Initiation, Orders 1 Through 150 in the junior novelization of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, authored by Patricia C. Wrede and published in 2005.
