Escape from Geonosis

Archduke Poggle the Lesser instigated a riot of Geonosian drones in order to escape the custody of the Galactic Republic and flee to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The riot, which allowed the Geonosian Archduke to escape successfully, also sabotaged the top-secret construction project in orbit of Geonosis.

Behind the scenes

The idea that Poggle the Lesser escaped from custody was first referenced in the 2015 reference book Ultimate Star Wars. The escape later went on to appear in the 2016 novel Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel.
