Erpham Warrick

Erpham Warrick was an Ewok male who created the battle wagon, a machine the Ewoks used to defend themselves from the threat of Duloks. Hundreds of seasons later, in 3 ABY, Warrick's great-grandson Wicket Warrick rebuilt the wagon, and Erpham gave him advice and encouragement on defeating the Duloks.

Biography

Erpham Warrick was an Ewok male who lived on the Forest Moon of Endor as part of the Bright Tree Village tribe. Hundreds of seasons before 3 ABY, the Ewoks' enemies, the Duloks, destroyed some of the Ewoks' precious Soul Trees as part of the Ewok–Dulok wars. In response, Warrick created the battle wagon, which he used to defend the Ewoks and drive away the Duloks. He came to be known as a legendary Ewok warrior.

In 3 ABY, Erpham's great-grandson, Wicket Wystri Warrick—son of Deej Warrick, Erpham's grandson, and Shodu Warrick, another of Erpham's descendants—came across the battle wagon's ruins and decided to fix it up with his friends after hearing about Erpham from the legend keeper, Kaink. Dulok spies, watching, interpreted the move as a threat, so a few weeks later, they stole the completed wagon for themselves. Unbeknownst to them, Wicket had been sleeping in the contraption, but they forced him off once they realized they had a stowaway. Wicket ran back and awoke Bright Tree Village to alert them, though all of the Ewoks were unconvinced that a wagon rebuilt by children would be a real concern.

A dejected Wicket walked over to his great-grandfather's Soul Tree, where he apologized for making a mess of things. Erpham then appeared and spoke to Wicket, chiding him for apologizing for hard work. He revealed that when he had originally built the battle wagon, the Ewoks had laughed at him, too, until they realized its use against the Duloks. Erpham advised his great-grandson not to give up a task he had begun, and a newly invigorated Wicket ran off, ultimately saving the Ewoks by destroying the stolen battle wagon seconds before it rammed into Erpham and his Soul Tree. Later, the village rebuilt the machine to thank Wicket, and Erpham's spirit winked at his descendant as the Ewoks honored Wicket.

Personality and traits

Erpham Warrick stayed committed to his invention even as he was mocked, advising his great-grandson to similarly stick to what he believed was right. He had blue-and-purple fur in his posthumous state.

Behind the scenes

Erpham Warrick was created for "Wicket's Wagon," the tenth episode of the first season of the animated series Ewoks, which aired on November 9, 1985. He was voiced by Antony Parr. The eighty-fourth issue of De Agostini's The Official Star Wars Fact File magazine, published around August 6, 2003, mistakenly refers to Erpham as Wicket's grandfather instead of great-grandfather.
