When a sect of former Jedi decided to rebel and control their own destiny as the Sith, rival lords united to oppose them instead of warring with each other. The rebellion failed and the Empire was strengthened by the new alliances, becoming a de facto centralized Empire once again. The Jedi acted as the Empire's most loyal servants. The revitalized Empire practiced the same system of government as it had before the Sith rebellion.
