The Elrood system was first mentioned in the 1996 roleplaying reference book Planets of the Galaxy, Volume Three. The Imperial campaign in the 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds portrayed the Empire uncovering information of Rebel base in the Elrood system in the battle of Zaloriis. The following level stated that it was Echo Base on the planet Hoth in the Elrood system, in contradiction to the original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. The game's databank entry for Hoth stated that the planet was in a system of the same name.
