Education was a department of the Coalition for Progress, a part of the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order within the Galactic Empire. The department was tasked with ensuring that learning institutions including schools, colleges, and universities aligned with the Empire's recommended teaching curriculums and research topics. The department had juridiction across the galaxy and its role proved a balancing act at times due to academics' tendencies to undertake projects with unclear outcomes and disappear down tangents. The historian Beaumont Kin mentioned the department in his book, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was published at some point after the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY.
