Although its appearance reminded a manka cat, the duneclaw was much different from the Alderaanian feline: it was an omnivorous, reptilian and solitary creature. It was also supposed that it was a distant cousin of the wraid.
The duneclaw had a very tough skin that was covered with armor-like plates, and a thick skull that could shatter Human's bones and crack stone only with a simple head-butt.
The duneclaw first appeared in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, released by BioWare in 2011. However, duneclaws on Tatooine used the manka cat character model; it was not until the release of the Rise of the Hutt Cartel Digital Expansion that the correct model was added to the game for a type of creature called a "Guuria" on Makeb. The later Flashpoint Czerka Core Meltdown clarified the discrepancy by applying the Guuria model to an "Enhanced Duneclaw" enemy.
