Dumas Mar'Ti

Dumas Mar'Ti was a Kaleesh female captain who lived during the High Republic Era. She was a member of the Byne Guild and captained her own starship, the Athos. After Affie Hollow revealed her foster mother and guild leader Scover Byne was responsible for the misuse of indentures to Galactic Republic, the Byne Guild was disbanded. Mar'Ti was angry to have lost the entire guild just because of one person's crimes and blamed Hollow for ruining the lives of her and every other guild employee.

One week after the Starlight Beacon space station's destruction, on the Outer Rim planet Eiram, Mar'Ti visited one of the small searcher craft on one of the world's shorelines. In a push forward for new assignments, she noticed and abruptly turned toward Affie Hollow, whom she recognized and peered carefully upon. Earlier, Affie and her pilot Leox Gyasi had traveled to Eiram and visited the craft. After a minute, Affie recognized her face and recalled when she came aboard with her a few times with her mother, but Mar'Ti interrupted her before she could finish, expressing disappointment that Affie continued to refer to Byne as her mother despite her work in putting the guild leader behind bars. Hollow tried to explain herself, but Mar'Ti responded by recounting the hard times she and other guild employees had been through instead. Pikka Adren stepped up to Affie's side in their conversation at that precise moment, with it unclear if she did so because she had known a Kaleesh before or if it was simply because she had good instincts. Mar'Ti was caught between her rage and the opportunity to scream but eventually slumped. As if nothing had happened, they all waited up for their .

For months, the Kaleesh Captain held onto her grudge against Affie. While based on the planet Kennerla, she visited the end of the bar in a grungy cantina, where she sipped a smoking purple drink. Mar'Ti was still angry with Hollow, who then found her and encouraged her to be as angry as she wanted, but be angry at the ones who genuinely messed up their lives—first her mother and then the Nihil. Hollow insisted that they could not defeat the Nihil alone but could as a group, pointing out that the Byne Guild did not need to exist for Scover Byne alone.

Explaining further, Hollow reasoned that each Guild ship could protect the others, trade shipments, and share intelligence with each other and the Republic. Told that, if they they were to reclaim even a third of the former Byne Guild ships, there would be a great deal of pressure put upon the Nihil and information for their allies in the Republic and the Jedi, Mar'Ti was unsure of what to say but warned not every guild member was someone she'd want to ally with without oversight. Assured that not everyone would join their cause, Mar'Ti thought it over for a long moment, just long enough to feel awkward, until shaking Affie's hand and displaying openness to the idea, only asking that she buy her a drink first.

Dumas Mar'Ti was a tall Kaleesh. She was enraged that Affie Hollow continued to refer to Scover Byne as her mother after she had imprisoned her. Mar'Ti believed that her sins were between herself and her gods. As a reptile, she knew when someone was being cold-blooded. She did not want to associate with everyone in the Guild without some oversight. Upon hearing Affie Hollow call Scover Byne her mother despite all she had done, Mar'Ti folded her arms and looked down at Affie, with the Kaleesh's eyes seeming as cold as a night on Mygeeto.
