Duel with Nayama

Prelude

When the Sith Lord Exar Kun was recruiting Jedi into his newly formed Brotherhood of the Sith, Jedi Padawan Nayama was swayed by Kun's teachings and promise of a new Golden Age of the Sith. She went to her husband, Bindo, who was her teacher despite being only a Padawan himself. She pleaded with Bindo to join the Brotherhood with her, but Bindo refused and asked her to stay loyal to the Jedi Order. Enraged by his rejection, Nayama attacked Bindo.

The duel

Bindo defeated Nayama after a long and terrible duel. He had her disarmed and defenseless, but could not bring himself to kill his wife. Nayama took advantage of Bindo's emotional attachment to her and escaped.

Aftermath

Nayama joined with Kun's Brotherhood of the Sith while Bindo fought for the Galactic Republic against them. Nayama killed numerous Jedi throughout the course of the war, but was slain in the war's final battle on Yavin 4. Bindo blamed himself for the deaths of the Jedi that Nayama killed, and blamed the Jedi Order for failing to prevent the tragedy of his wife's turn to the dark side and her death. Bindo felt that he should have been punished for his actions, and when the Jedi High Council cited circumstances and chose not to punish him, it was too much for him. He abandoned the order and became a Gray Jedi.
