Dragon troopers
Dragon troopers were used during the war for the moon Alaris Prime, which was fought between 39 BBY and 36 BBY between the rightful Wookiee colonists and the Trade Federation. At one base where the Wookiee leader Chewbacca was preparing troops to attack a Trade Federation outpost, two troop centers were built to train dragon troopers as well as bowcaster troopers and grenade troopers. A force of twelve Wookiees, including Chewbacca, boarded transport ships and crossed a river to reach the outpost. The dragon and grenade troopers used their weaponry to bring down the light wall surrounding the oupost and the central troop center, while Chewbacca and the bowcaster troopers brought down the B1-Series battle droids guarding the outpost.
One dragon trooper was present in Chewbacca's camp when it was attacked by a Trade Federation strike force commanded by LUH-989. Dragon troopers were also present in the attack on a Trade Federation listening array and the Battle for Alaris Prime, which saw the company expelled from Alaris Prime completely. One dragon trooper was present on Kashyyyk at the time of the Battle of Kashyyyk, riding past the Jedi Yoda and Quinlan Vos as they discussed the potential death of the Separatist General Grievous and the end of the Clone Wars. Dragon troopers also fought in the Liberation of Kashyyyk in the Galactic Civil War.
Dragon troopers appeared in the 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds as the mounted trooper unit of the Wookiee civilization. An early design for the Wookiee mounted trooper had banthas as the mounts, though ultimately katarns were chosen.
