A DT-12 was used by the bounty hunter Greedo during his unsuccessful confrontation with the smuggler Han Solo at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina. It was also the weapon of choice for human mercenary Migs Mayfeld, who kept three on his person: two in chest holsters and a third in a automated weapon mounting attached to his backpack.
