The DH-16 Blaster Pistol, albeit unidentified, first appeared in the canon video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts on November 15, 2019. The blaster pistol was later identified in the 2015 mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes as Gerrera's relic, which was added during the May 2, 2023 patch.
On Instagram, concept artist Matthew Savage revealed that the blaster was originally intended to be used by Gerrera in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story; before getting removed from the final cut of the film. Additionally, Savage also revealed that he designed the blaster on top of a FN Five-seven airsoft pistol.
