Cyclorrian

Cyclorrians were an insectoid sentient species famed for their dedicated engineering skills. They were proud of producing advanced starships at the Cyclor Shipyards in the Mid Rim, which were second only to the Corellian shipyards during the High Republic Era.

Description

Cyclorrians were a species of sentient insectoids who lived in hives alongside the rest of their swarm. Native to the largely green-and-brown Mid Rim planet Cyclor and sharing their name with the Inner Rim celestial body Cyclorria, they stood at about a meter tall and had a pair of long antennae on their big round heads for navigating their darkened hives and large pearlescent compound eyes. The species also had two shorter antennae near the small area under their eyes where they wore gray masks. Cyclorrians had beige and bluish gray skin, a pair of arms with three fingers each, and a pair of adhesive feet, but they also wore shoes and clothing covering their torsos and legs. The people communicated in a language of chirrups and clicks, and their faces flushed purple when deeply stressed.

The Cyclorrians of the Cyclor Shipyards worked in unison without needing to speak, perfectly doing their part without interrupting one another with an infectious enthusiasm; the Cyclorrians' work ethic allowed them to work non-stop for over twenty-four hours without complaint, producing some of the finest spacecrafts for the Galactic Republic.

Cyclorrians were known across the galaxy for their fine engineering capabilities and the advanced Cyclor Shipyards during the High Republic Era, producing a fleet of Incom Corporation's Z-29 Skyhawk starfighters for worlds throughout the Republic and beyond. Considered second only to the Corellian shipyards, they also built the state-of-the-art Elite-class vessel Innovator following the Aqualish Vam Targes' design and strict supervision. When he visited the yet-to-be-commissioned ship's hangar in 231 BBY, Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar was as impressed with the Innovator as he was with its Cyclorrian shipbuilders. The Jedi Indeera Stokes also marvelled at the work being done at the shipyard.

When the Nihil raiders attacked the shipyard during the Jedi's visit, the Cyclorrians defended the pride of their work by piloting Z-29 Skyhawks with their gloved fingers and, in the breached hangar of the Innovator, arming themselves with blasters. While the swarm-mates were not soldiers, they also bravely fought Nihil scav droids hand-to-manipulator-arm, protected by their space-suits. Meanwhile, their two Jedi visitors engaged the Nihil with their own Vector fighters.

Although the Nihil jammed communications to and from the shipyard with their scrambler droids, the Cyclorrians engineered a way to broadcast some footage of the attack, its reach including the nearby Derra Outpost and the Republic Chancellor Lina Soh's flagship, the Coruscant Dawn, in the Core Worlds. Aboard, Jedi Knight Nib Assek concluded that the engineers must have bypassed the Nihil's jamming, prompting Vice Chancellor Larep Reza to briskly state that they should pass on their knowledge to official channels. Jedi Master Stellan Gios analyzed the footage and called on Derra Outpost to provide assistance, but Master Tera Sinube there had already sent a squadron of Jedi Vectors led by Master Porter Engle.

Master Engle deemed the Cyclorrians valiant in battle, and the shipbuilders informed the Jedi that the Nihil's lead ship had been destroyed, thanks to the efforts of Zettifar.

One Cyclorrian swarm joined the Resistance, including Vazzet Dipterz and Wizzich Mozzer.
