Cryotank

Cryotanks were a means of preserving organics, dead or alive, for long periods of time.

In 16 ABY, a Republic Security officer was caught holding eleven Imperial corpses still in their uniforms in cryotanks in a hangar on Derra IV. His plans were to wait until his son was old enough to be told what happened to his mother, and then give him any weapon to take revenge on them with.

The Kerestians launched several dozen colony ships a century before their star began to cool. Because the ships only had sublight drives, the Kerestians were placed in suspended animation within cryotanks.
