These robes were believed to have belonged to the fallen Cathar Jedi Crado, who fell under the sway of the Dark Lord Exar Kun. Since Crado was vaporized by the explosion of the Cron Cluster, it was unlikely that they actually belonged to him; however they were nonetheless a powerful, if tainted, item, bestowing greatly increased strength to the wearer.
It was possible that the Jedi Exile acquired these robes during her travels in 3951 BBY, in the midst of the First Jedi Purge.
