The Conclave of Chanosant was held on the planet Chanosant in an effort to recruit support for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It took place concurrently with a Separatist assault on Lanos, which was thus publicized as a liberation from the "corrupt and decayed" Galactic Republic.
