Codia I


Codia I was a Mid Rim Territories planet. It was orbited by two moons, the Codian Moon and another one that was tidally locked to the planet's star. Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi at one point mentioned Codia I in his journals, and it was also noted on a galactic map included in the book Traveler's Guide to Batuu.

Description


Codia I, also referred to simply as Codia, was a planet located in the Mid Rim Territories' Codia system within grid square H-15 of the Standard Galactic Grid. It occupied the first orbital position around the Codian dwarf star and shared its name with the location known as New Codia. The planet itself was circled by two moons, the forest- and moss-covered Codian Moon and another moon, which was tidally locked to Codia I's star. The darker side of that natural satellite was nevertheless illuminated by planetshine.

History


When Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, visited the Codia system while on a mission to Codia I's second moon at some point between 44 BBY and 32 BBY, Kenobi pointed out to Jinn how Codia's second moon was illuminated by the planet. Around 0 BBY, Kenobi also briefly mentioned Codia I in his journals, and at some point, the historian Eloc Throno also noted the location of the planet on a map of the galaxy included in his book Traveler's Guide to Batuu.

Behind the scenes


Codia was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a galactic map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying boxed set. The second issue of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan comic book series, written by Christopher Cantwell and published by Marvel Comics on June 29, 2022, first identified the planet as Codia I.
