The cloak of the Kursk first appeared as an item in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies expansion Trials of Obi-Wan released in 2005. The item was available only as a drop from killing San'sii whom was an elite enemy targeted in the quest "An Archaeologist's Problem". The cloak later appeared in San'sii's card in the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game expansion pack Agents of Deception which was released in 2009.
