Civilian Astrogation Corps

The Civilian Astrogation Corps was a loose group of explorers and astrogators responsible for keeping hyperspace navigational data current. They were the primary users of the Corellian Engineering Corporation's JumpMaster 5000 patrol boat.

During the Imperial Era, the task of updating hyperspace data was centrally managed by the Imperial Survey Corps. During the early days of Galactic Empire's rule, the Survey Corps offered many members of the Civilian Astrogation Corps military commissions, but most rejected the offer, which stipulated that all data on the Unknown Regions was to be considered state secrets. Instead, the free spirits of the Astrogation Corps continued to map the fringes of Wild Space in their JumpMasters.

In the new Star Wars canon, the Civilian Astrogation Corps was first mentioned in the 2020 Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars Roleplaying supplement, Starships and Speeders. The organization originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Fantasy Flight Games' 2013 rulebook for the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying series.
