Following the closure of Interplay Entertainment, where he worked as lead designer, Chris Avellone co-founded Obsidian Entertainment with former Interplay employees. Their first commercial project was the Star Wars role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, for which he acted as the lead designer. He is also responsible for a major part of its writing, including most of the companions.
He later worked on a short comic, "Unseen, Unheard," published in Star Wars Tales 24, and several Clone Wars Adventures stories.
More than a decade after the release of Knights of the Old Republic II, Avellone returned to the Star Wars universe as a writer on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
