The Chortose were a sentient species that resided on Chortose, an astronomical object in the Rseik sector of the Outer Rim Territories. The species had a small stature and was covered in brown fur. During the High Republic Era, the Nihil marauders attacked Agricultural Hub 42, a factory on Chortose ran by Chortose workers, for the that it utilized. Two Chortose brothers, Pango and Gru, sent a distress signal to the Jedi Order on Starlight Beacon, who sent the Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis to assist them. Trennis arrived to defend the Chortose workers from being killed by the Nihil, and was herself assisted by the Jedi Wayseeker Orla Jareni.
