The Chiss Academy was an educational institution within the Chiss Ascendancy, located in Chiss Space in the Unknown Regions. The Academy taught students to thoroughly analyze information to respond effectively and with precision. Along with the values of the ruling Aristocra, the Academy led to a cultural taboo within Chiss society against preemptive strikes to the extent that use of the tactic was legally punishable by exile.
The young Chiss Sev'rance Tann studied at the Academy prior to the Battle of Geonosis, which initiated the Clone Wars in 22 BBY. According to a story told among troopers that later served under Tann, a professor challenged her to train a group of Yresilini into an army in spite of the species' perceived untrainable nature. Tann selected a Yresilini general to learn basic commands and executed him when he disobeyed. The general's successor led the other Yreslini to follow Tann's orders, and she received high marks for her assignment, going on to become a general for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.
The Chiss Academy was first mentioned in Sev'rance Tann's databank entry in the 2002 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns.
