Cave beetles were six-legged insects that lived in the caves of Tatooine. The cook Porcellus used rock beetle and cave beetle carcasses to make beetle broth for his master, Jabba Desilijic Tiure.

Cave beetles appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. Cave beetles were almost identical to rockmites, rock beetles, sand beetles and dune beetles, using the same base model with different textures.
