Cargo freighter EF-75 was named by Steven Melching as a reference to the bulk carrier SS Edmund Fitzgerald, which sank in Lake Superior in 1975 and was later memorialized in one of Melching's favorite songs, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," by Gordon Lightfoot.
