Cabinet (Chiss)

The Cabinet was a ruling body of the Chiss Ascendancy. Its primary function was to serve as the executive counter to the Chiss Senate. The Cabinet was headquartered in the House Palace in the city of Csaplar on the Ascendancy's capital world of Csilla. Arranged beneath the four Ruling FamiliesCsapla, Nuruodo, Inrokini, and Sabosen—the Cabinet handled much of the governing of the Ascendancy, though all decisions of the ruling body were approved by one of the Families. Cabinet positions were appointed by the most relevant Ruling Family.

Each family was responsible for specific areas of concern: Csapla handled colonial affairs, resource distribution, and agriculture; Nuruodo handled the military and foreign affairs; Inrokini handled industry, science, and communication; and Sabosen handled justice, health, and education. The issues discussed in the Chiss Senate would be deferred to the departments in the Cabinet, which in turn would pass important matters to the Ruling Families. By 25 ABY, the Cabinet was described in The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life, a book published by the University of Sanbra and written by the sentientologist Tem Eliss.

The Cabinet was first mentioned in the article "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Chiss," which was written by Juan Schwartz and published by Wizards of the Coast in the fifth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine on July 24, 2001.
