Caar Damask

Caar Damask was born on Muunilinst in the 8th or 9th century of the Great Peace of the Republic period to Hego Damask I of the Damask clan. When Caar grew older, he took on a primary wife, conceived multiple offspring, and became employed by the InterGalactic Banking Clan. He had previously manifested Force-sensitivity, but kept his abilities a closely guarded secret. Despite his attempts at concealment, his Force-sensitivity would come to the attention of Darth Tenebrous who happened to meet him in the High Port Space Center while masquerading as the Bith ship designer Rugess Nome. Caar used his powers to move up the corporate ladder by amplifying his ability to manipulate and persuade clients, but his career stalled once he reached a middle management position.

Frustrated that his genius was being unrecognized, Caar accepted an assignment from Muunilinst's Mals Tonith as a personal favor in hopes it would advance his stagnant career. He left his primary wife and children behind to build a new life and career for himself as the mining operations supervisor on the Muun colony world Mygeeto. Ten years after his arrival on Mygeeto, a lower-caste Muun female would become his assistant. This female had been inserted into this position by Darth Tenebrous who had discovered her Force-sensitivity and taken her on as a disciple. Tenebrous had calculated that a child produced by Caar Damask and his female disciple would be exceptionally strong in the Force and would the meet criteria needed to serve as his apprentice. After tasking his disciple to seduce Caar Damask, she became his codicil wife and bore him a son, Hego Damask II, named after Caar's clan father Hego Damask I.

Caar Damask and his wife would raise their son in a domed city on Mygeeto while hiding the secret of their family's powers. Hego's mother was more present for his early development than his father, but Caar still managed to find time to show his son love and attention despite his demanding work schedule. Caar would meet with many important visitors including Jedi Knights and their Padawans who visited Mygeeto in search of Adegan crystals used in lightsaber construction. Before Hego turned five, he used a mind trick to convince a playmate he didn't like to commit suicide by jumping out a high window. While Hego had been becoming apart of Caar's life more and more, his father thought of him as a monster after this event and began to grow distant. Following the manifestation of Hego's Force-sensitivity, Darth Tenebrous (in his public persona Rugess Nome) travelled to Mygeeto to broker a deal with Caar. In exchange for his lifelong dream of advancing his career into the upper echelon of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, Caar gave up his son to Tenebrous.

Five years after Tenebrous' visit, Caar was recalled to Muunilinst to become the director of the treasury branch of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. He returned to his primary wife and children after his codicil wife mysteriously vanished. Many years after Hego Damask began his tutelage under his new master, he returned to his father. Darth Plagueis later claimed to Palpatine that he had travelled to Muunilinst as a young adult to live with his father and meet the rest of his clan. As the son of Caar Damask's codicil wife, however, he was never accepted by his half-brothers and sisters, who saw him as an interloper and sought to have him disinherited. Soon afterwards, Caar fell gravely ill at a relatively young age for a Muun, and it was discovered that he had a rare congenital defect in his tertiary heart. On his deathbed, Caar told Hego that he shouldn't hesitate to use whatever means necessary to protect his interests. When Hego's siblings and clan mother learned they had also inherited the defect, they spent millions of credits on a geneticist to help cure the condition. Plagueis, having been born to a different mother, did not carry the gene and had hired the geneticist to conduct phony treatments. He took pleasure in his siblings' early deaths, inheriting Caar's wealth they had tried to deny him. Plagueis later admitted to Palpatine that only some of his story was true.

Plagueis' inheritance included ownership of Sojourn, a moon used by the InterGalactic Banking Clan as a place for their wealthiest clientele to relax. Under Caar Damask's management, Sojourn was transformed into a meeting place for the most important players in the galaxy to exchange ideas. The think tank founded by Caar established the Galactic Credit Standard, proposed the chancellorship of Eixes Valorum, and reorganized the makeup of the Trade Federation Directorate.
