In 35 ABY, forces of the First Order led by Supreme Leader Kylo Ren fought the Alazmec in the fen in order to obtain a Sith wayfinder. During the battle, at least two cultists used CX-55 scatterblasters while fighting Ren, but the weapons were no match for his lightsaber, and he deflected their shots with his blade and then used it to kill the two cultists.
The CX-55 scatterblaster first appeared in the 2019 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. The weapons were not identified in the film but received a name in the accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.
