Brood pouch

A brood pouch was a part of the anatomy of the Hutt species. Hutt parents would keep their Huttlet in the pouch for the first fifty years of their life. Afterward, the Huttlets emerged from the pouch and had a mind similar to an infant. Between around 24 BBY and 22 BBY, the Huttlet Rotta, son of the crime lord Jabba the Hutt, emerged from his parent's brood pouch.

Brood pouches were mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the article "The Clone Wars Rewatch: A Sith Plot Unravels in the Theatrical Release (Part 3 of 3)," written by Kristin Baver and published on StarWars.com on August 16, 2018. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, brood pouches were mentioned in the 2008 reference book Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Visual Guide, which was based on The Clone Wars animated series, that was written by Jason Fry and Heather Scott.
