The Academy was named after Admiral Brionelle, the famous commander of the Chandrila Orbital Station who died during the Battle of the Red Reaper during the Galactic Cold War of 3642 BBY.
The Academy's program consisted of a two year training in leadership and ethics, team work and small-unit tactics. Following successful completion of this program, cadets went on to specialize in either the Army or Navy. Graduates of the Academy served in the Chandrilan Security Force and the Republic Navy, though their skills in debate led many to desert the Imperial Navy in favor of the Rebel Alliance.
Following the Battle of Calamari, Arhul Hextrophon gave a speech at the Academy on World Devastators.
